Ohio Vacation

Pro Football Hall of FameOhio offers a lot of sights to see and things to do. The Buckeye State is where I live. We are about 9 miles from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Always a popular visit for football fans, it becomes a week of fun during the Hall of Fame festivities once a year when new players are inducted into the hall.

If you are visiting the hall, you’ll want to stop at the McKinley Museum as well. It’s only about a mile away. It’s dedicated to former president William McKinley and has some good facts and more about him and the era.

But this is not just a museum for the older folks. The kids will love it. The bottom floor houses a dinosaur that roars when you pass it. There are plenty of dinosaurs and bones and fossils, with movies running all the time. There are live animals and a science section with some fun things to do.

Upstairs is a layout of an old town with a brick road and lots of artifacts. The kids can slide down a fireman’s pole and check out the huge train display. All this is included in the price.

Columbus ZooColumbus is an area that keeps you busy. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is outstanding but get there early and plan to spend the day because it is very spread out. COSI is nearby and is a hands on science arena. Visit the old German Village and more.

If you stay in Cincinnati, and this is also a bustling town, swing over nearby to the Newport Aquarium in Kentucky. We stayed in Columbus and drove over to visit it and my grandson loved it!

Some of the most popular museums in Ohio are the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Great Lakes Science Center and Cleveland Museum of Natural History. As I write this there is a huge aquarium about to be opened up in Cleveland and we are chomping at the bits to visit it.

Ohio also offers you many different fun filled theme parks. Here you can experience Ohio’s greatest rides. The Cedar Point Amusement Park is known throughout the states.

Ohio is a terrific vacation spot so plan ahead to take in as much as possible.
